Frequently asked questions

A little clarity
before your escape.

Answers to the questions that come up when planning a Lakshadweep holiday.

Do I need a permit to visit Lakshadweep?

Yes. Tourists who are not native to the islands need an entry permit. Apply in the Tourist category through the official ePermit portal. The Administration decides approval; a holiday enquiry or hotel booking is not a permit.

How do I get a Lakshadweep entry permit?

Use the official ePermit portal and follow its current Tourist category checklist. The portal currently says sponsorship and a Police Clearance Certificate upload are no longer required for Tourist applications. Confirm island eligibility, travel dates and the current document requirements before applying.

How much does a Lakshadweep trip cost?

We do not publish fixed rates, since the total depends on travel dates, access, stay, transfers, meals, flights and activities for each island and itinerary. Share your dates and preferences and we will prepare an itemised quote.

Which island should I choose?

Consider Agatti for the easiest arrival and reef access, Bangaram or Thinnakara for a quieter lagoon retreat, Kadmat for a beach stay with diving enquiries, Minicoy for distinctive island culture, or Kalpeni for lagoon-focused days. The right choice depends on your dates and pace.

What is the best time to visit Lakshadweep?

The Lakshadweep Administration identifies October to March as the ideal period. April and May can be hotter. Monsoon conditions affect sea journeys and activities, so confirm the operating season for your exact itinerary.

How many days should I allow?

As a planning suggestion, allow four to six days for a relaxed single-island holiday, plus any mainland connections. Ship-based journeys may need a different duration. We recommend choosing the island and transport first, then fixing your leave dates.

How do I travel from Mumbai?

Plan your departure around a confirmed flight or ship itinerary. Kochi is the mainland gateway described by the Administration; a flight journey can connect onward to Agatti. Check current airline schedules rather than assuming any direct Mumbai service is available on your dates.

How do I reach Lakshadweep by air?

Agatti is the island airport identified in the Administration’s travel guidance. Confirm current airline routes and seats, then arrange any onward boat transfer as part of the same itinerary. Do not assume a flight arrival connects automatically with every island.

Can families visit Lakshadweep?

Families can enquire for a suitable itinerary, subject to permits and confirmed travel arrangements. Share children’s ages, room needs and any mobility requirements so we can check transfers, accommodation and the suitability of activities before quoting.

Is Lakshadweep suitable for a honeymoon?

For couples who enjoy beach time and a quieter pace, it can be a lovely choice. We recommend fewer transfers and more time in one confirmed stay. Special meals, room upgrades and private excursions must be requested and quoted separately.

Where can I scuba dive?

Official tourism information lists Kadmat, Kavaratti and Minicoy for diving packages. Current operators, sessions and suitability must be confirmed. Tell the operator your certification and experience; ask about medical screening, supervision and flying-after-diving requirements.

What should I pack?

Bring lightweight clothing, sun protection, swimwear, comfortable footwear, your approved travel documents and any personal essentials. Keep luggage practical for transfers. Ask your activity provider what equipment is included and what you should bring.

Are meals included in every package?

No universal meal plan applies. Your written quote should state the meals, drinks and any dietary arrangements included at each stay. Tell us about dietary needs before confirmation so the accommodation can check them.

Does Lakshadweep Travelinks help with permits?

Yes, permit and documentation assistance is part of our planning service. The authority retains the approval decision. We will explain the process for your proposed itinerary; no permit is guaranteed.
